, ,Job Title: Web Analytics Engineer

The Role:
You’ll help our clients better understand their business and audiences through data. You’ll confer with clients on their business needs, translate them into digital strategies with data collection requirements, and then collaborate with them in building out robust measurement capabilities using Google Tag Manager / Firebase and Google Analytics. You will also build out dashboards, reports, and action-based analysis to help clients move from simply having data to understanding and applying that data.
You’ll own the data collection & analysis process for both our clients as well as our own internal needs. You have a passion for data & analytics, keeping up with trends and having confidence in how to apply them to help our clients achieve their goals.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong analytics background to help shape a growing analytics practice, as you’ll have the opportunity to become a trusted advisor to our clients and partners while we continue to grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain analytics implementations, largely using Google Tag Manager, Google Firebase, and Google Analytics
- Transform business needs into strategic analytics & measurement requirements
- Monitor and troubleshoot tagging and tracking issues, both for web activity data (e.g. GA4) and advertising Pixels (e.g. Google Ads, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Act as a subject matter expert on Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, and other data collection best practices
- Understand and proactively seek new & innovative solutions to solve business measurement challenges
- Collaborate cross-divisionally with the other marketing, development, and creative Happy Cog divisions to provide clients with a holistic digital partnership
- Understand and advise consent-based best practices, supporting those initiatives through consent management tools and Google Tag Manager triggers
- Build and maintain dashboarding and reporting through GA4 Explorations, Looker Studio Dashboards, and more
- Apply creative critical thinking through action-based analyses for clients that result in recommendations for optimization
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of at least 2 years of experience
- Experience with web analytics tools / platforms like Google Analytics (required) or Adobe Analytics (bonus), having run at least one Google Analytics 360 implementation - experience with mobile implementation using Google Firebase is a strong plus!
- Experience with tag management tools / platforms like Google Tag Manager (required, others are a bonus), with a general understanding of JavaScript, jQuery, SQL and HTML
- Experience running multiple, complex end-to-end Google Analytics + Google Tag Manager implementations
- Ability to understand business goals / challenges and translate them into analytics / data collection needs
- Ability to dig into specific client requests & identify the underlying business need
- Experience with dashboarding tools / platforms, in order of preference: Looker Studio, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
- Efficient communication skills, for both internal and external use
- Efficient time management skills to regularly support multiple clients and competing priorities
- Strong bonus if you have experience with any of the following:
- Consent Management Tools (e.g. OneTrust, CookiePro, etc.)
- CRMs (e.g. Hubspot, Salesforce, etc.)
- Data Warehouses (e.g. Google BigQuery, Snowflake, etc.)
- Heatmapping/Testing Tools (e.g. Hotjar, VWO, etc.)
Salary range: $70,000 - $90,000, depending on experience
